| The
Indian government seems to be getting ready to ban the publication and
broadcast of exit polls till the last phase of voting is over. In India general elections are usually held in several phases and might span over many weeks because of the huge land area and large number of states and people. The tv channels usually publish the exit polls after each phase and this might affect the opinion of people who are going to vote in the next phases. Also some of the exit polls have been widely off the mark as far as the final results were concerned in some of the last elections. It is very hard to predict the outome of elections based on small samples, in a country such as India with a very non-homogeneous population with diverse opinions. Mexico and Korea seem to be examples of other countries where there is a ban on exit polls. ================================ some more information is available at bbc indian express ------------------------------------------------ (index of articles) (trig. formulae) (integration formulae) (other math problems) (formulae on differentiation) rbmix.com |
