Buying a new water heater We had earlier been using a big water heater (about 20 litres) manufactured by Crompton Greaves. But the Kerala Government recently announced surcharges/increase in tariff for all electricity consumption above a certain limit. This led us to think about switching to a smaller capacity water heater. We had wanted to buy a water heaterof around 4 to 5 litre capacity. We asked around and finally bought a water heater manufactured by Vijay. It was of 6 liter capacity and cost about 3700 rupees (MRP was about Rs.4000/-) It was rated at 2KW power consumption. I had wanted to change over to a solar water heater. The initial costs are high, but the higher cost could have been made up in a few years due to the lack of running expenses. But there are some problems with putting up the solar panels for heat absorption especially during the rainy season here. == == |
